The Dealership sold the Explorer today. i hope the new owners take care of it. Mom had it for almost 9 years (She got it in the summer of 2010). It was a great vehicle, I just didn’t really “love” it. I won’t lie, I did get a little choked up taking it to the salesman though.
Farewell.

I have a 2006 Eddie Bauer. At 100k, it’s on its 2nd transmission and 3rd radiator, and averages 13.5 mpg on a good day.
I have become strangely attached to it.

Ours never needed anything bigger than a rusted exhaust fixed. Had 75k.
Because I let it run for like a half hour every morning in the winter, it averaged 9mpg apparently.
I wasn’t really attached, but I am kinda sad.

Fear not, my wife drives our 09 Explorer with the same (at least it appears to be so) trim package. And black to boot. It’s a great vehicle and we completed a road trip from Colorado to Camano Island in Washington this summer.

Mom’s was a pretty basic XLT, other than the moonroof.
